                                Duvet Sets £19.99

Did you Know ……..

Continually lying on top of a duvet will shorten it’s lifespan as it compresses the filling and lessens its ability to trap air.

The word Duvet has been adapted from the old French word, Dumet meaning ‘Down’.

Your questions answered on Duvets

Frequently asked Questions

Q.        What is a TOG?

A.        Duvets are insulators and work through trapping heat generated by the body. A tog is a measure of the thermal properties of a Duvet i.e. the amount of heat a duvet can trap, the higher the tog, the more thermally efficient, and the warmer the duvet. A common misconception is that the tog rating is an indication of quality, value or weight, this is not the case.

Q.        Can Duvets be Dry Cleaned?

A.        Duvets should not be dry cleaned, as this method of cleaning utilizes solvents that emit toxic fumes. Duvets are designed to trap air to keep you warm, so solvents used in the dry cleaning process will be trapped within the duvet or pillow creating a dangerous and unhealthy sleeping environment.

Q.        What is the Difference between non-allergenic and anti-allergenic bedlinen?

A.        The difference between non-allergenic and anti-allergenic bedding is that non-allergenic products are manufactured from materials such as cotton and polyester. These materials do not cause allergic reactions, anti-allergenic products are made from either barrier fabrics such as polypropolene, which prevent allergens from coming into contact with the user or contain fillings which are treated to reduce allergens.

Q.        Can I wash my natural duvet?

A.        It is a mistaken belief that, whilst synthetic quilts are washable, natural quilts are not. Ducks and geese spend most of their life in water, and any natural quilt can be washed although we would advise you to take it to a launderette as it must be properly dried.

Pillows

Which Pillow do I choose?

Natural Pillows

Down and feather pillows mould snugly round the head and shoulders.  The more feather there is in a pillow, the firmer it tends to be, and the proportion of down adds softness.

Synthetic Pillows

These provide the alternative for those allergic to feathers and down.  As with duvets, we ahve a range of differenct types to choose from, including microfibre filled which provide the closest in feel to a down pillow.
All our synthetic pillows can be washed in a domestic washing machine.

Memory Foam

Pillows made from memory foam provide firm support and maintain their shape.  They are made from non-allergenci, temperature sensitive material that has unique pressure relieving qualities, allowing you head and neck to rest in a natural position.

Which Mattress Cover ....?

Protective covers not only prolong the life of your mattress and pillows, they can also make a real difference to your comfort in bed creating an extra layer of softness and warmth.  They can keep your bedding fresh and also revitalise tired mattresses and pillows.
